Open CUTROOM

  1. Right-click the downloaded ZIP and choose Extract All.
  2. Open the extracted folder in Windows File Explorer and double-click: START CUTROOM.bat If Windows hides extensions, it appears as START CUTROOM.
  3. Let setup finish. The editor opens in your browser. Keep the launch window open while editing.

Use this same file every time. It handles first-time setup and normal launches. There is no need to choose an installer or open the App folder.

CUTROOM's source code, technical files and saved work. Keep this folder beside the launcher. You do not need to open it for everyday use.

What happens on the first launch?

Setup needs internet and downloads the components needed to run CUTROOM. It can take several minutes and may show installation or permission prompts. Later launches reuse the installed components. Do not close the launch window before setup finishes.

The ZIP is a small source package, not the complete installation. Dependencies, optional AI models and your footage need additional disk space. Keep the extracted folder in the same location after setup.

Do I need an AI account?

No, for manual editing. Choose “Edit it yourself” to start without an AI account or model.

Local AI needs separate models. Open “AI connection” to review their sizes and confirm downloads. Online AI needs your own API key and consent to send audio and transcript context. Groq offers a free tier within its quotas; paid accounts and other providers may charge. Editing and export still run on your computer.

What should I make first?

Try a short, non-sensitive recording you know well. Choose Short / Reel for vertical video, YouTube for horizontal cleanup, or manual editing for full control. Review your transcript, cuts, layout and exported video. This is a beta, and AI drafts need your review.

It does not open. What should I do?

Make sure you used Extract All, not a file preview inside the ZIP. The launcher and the complete App folder must stay together. Use a writable local folder and check the error shown in the launch window. Do not disable your computer's security protections.

If setup was interrupted, run START CUTROOM.bat again. For further help, see setup troubleshooting. Advanced repair is available at App/repair_windows.bat; it is not the normal launcher.

Where is my work? How do I update?

With the default settings, projects and copied footage are in App/data. Exports are also saved there and can be downloaded from the editor. Do not delete the App folder or share it as a clean download. It can contain your private recordings and transcripts.

Back up your work before updating. Extract a new version into a separate folder, not over an existing installation. Older flat-folder installations keep working from their original run_windows.bat; do not move their files into this package. See upgrade notes (Hebrew) or setup help (English).
